Arduino 1 + CC3000

Post by leeppolis »

Hi,
I just received my package with a CC3000 shield and a "shield headers" for Arduino.
I assembled everything together, and tried to run the build test sketch, but every time I try it blocks when tries to initialise the shield:

Code: Select all

MHello, CC3000!

RX Buffer : 131 bytes
TX Buffer : 131 bytes
Free RAM: 1227

Initialising the CC3000 ...
The led on the shield is on,but I noticed that the reset button doesn't seem to work. I'm pretty new to Arduino, was wondering if someone could help me understanding what's wrong.

Thanks in advance,
S.

Good, large, clear photos of both sides of the shield would be a start.

Here I am,
so here are a picture of the shield, the Arduino, and of the headers:

Here is how I assembled it:

And then

After assembling it, I downloaded the code from github (https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CC3000_Library), and uploaded the testbuild sketch to the Arduino.

Here is the result

I have some problem understanding the guide, but what I understood is that using that headers I should be able to make it work without any soldering...

Another difference that I notice (yesterday I was trying using a newer MBP) is that today the power led on the shield doesn't switch on.

Thank you for your help,
S.

Maybe I HAVE to solder the headers to the shield? I'm a real newbie...

Yes you do. you might want to get a piece of perf board from Radio Shack or the like and practice some soldering before you attack the shields if you have not done any before, or get a friend who has done soldering before to do it so you can blame him (or her) for any failures

Nah.. we see that question a couple of times every week. ;-)

It's basic information, but even basic information has to be learned somewhere. Everyone starts off asking basic questions, so "did you need to ask?" is much less important than "how many times did you need to be told?"
