VS1053 MP3 Breakout Problem

Post by Gavin Melville »

I'm having trouble getting the VS1053 MP3 Breakout to work, and I see from past posts others have had the same problem, but no solution was ever posted.

The layout is clean, all waveforms checked, tried .wav as well as .mp3 files. Tones work, GPIO works, uSD card files are readable and writeable. The MP3 files play too fast, and all I get is the "two clicks" issue that others reported. CPU is a Mega2560.

The output, from the Simple Player, looks like this;

The layout, bottom side is here; The board is ground planed, and all signals have the correct voltages and are clean of glitches etc.

The waveforms on the various pins, look like this;

Reset is functional, it's just off screen to the left.
I wonder if somebody who has this going could take a quick look, and tell me what silly mistake I have made.

Regards,
Gavin.

If the files play at the wrong speed, have you got the clock running at the right frequency?
