Motor Shield Heat Sink

I am using the adafruit motor shield and it is getting hot, how should I attach a heat sink to it, and what one should i use?

WRT heat sinks, bigger is always better, but eventually you reach a point of diminishing returns.

and mount it on the chip with thermal tape: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1467

The TB6612 half bridges (near the terminal blocks) are the ones that are probably getting hot. If you're using both, give each one a heatsink.
