I would like to use this shield to display data from other i2c devices, so two questions.
What is the RGB LCD shield address? Is there example code available doing this?
thanks

Re: i2c RGB LCD shield address
According to the technical details on the product page
Could you explain in more detail what it is you are trying to accomplish? This board/chip uses I2C 7-bit address 0x20

Re: i2c RGB LCD shield address
thanks, missed that.
I want to make a stand alone UV meter using the SI1145 that displays on the RGB LCD shield rather than the serial monitor. Could be other shields as well.

The Liquid Crystal library for writing text the LCD display is derived from the same stream class that is used for writing to files or the serial monitor. The basics of writing to the display are covered here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ard ... duino-code

Re: i2c RGB LCD shield address
I was actually more interested in code examples using I2c, communicating with two or more different I2C devices. Even better if one of them was the RGB LCD shield.

Re: i2c RGB LCD shield address
To communicate with the shield, you just use Adafruit's version of the Liquid Crystal library. You don't need to worry about the low-level I2C communication. Most of our I2C devices have libraries as well. Just follow the links in the product description pages.

when using the RGB LCD shield and Si115 shield together (or others), are pull up resistors needed?

Re: i2c RGB LCD shield address
I don't know about the Si115 shield. But the RGB/LCD shield has pull-up resistors on board. In most applications, you only need one set of pull-up resistors on the bus.
