Motor Shield v2.0 with stepper

Post by quarren42 »

I'm current using your NEMA17 stepper that's found in the Adafruit Store, and it runs fine - however, once I get above around 200rpm, whatever speed I set it to doesn't make a difference. Do you guys know how I can get the stepper to spin faster (I am using double coil steps) than it currently does? Or should I try out another driver? Thanks for your help.

This thread explains the speed limitations and some ways to work around it. http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57041

At some point however, you run into the physical and electrical limits of the motor & driver. High step-count motors such as this are designed more for positioning precision than speed.
