Xbe Adafruit Adapter to Oregon Scientific Thermometer?

Post by NotSoSimple »

I just completed the Tweet-a-Watt project and I am hooked. I have had EnergyLogger running and even patched my results over to Pachube. The next thing I was thinking of was taking my Oregon Scientific (Model EMR201) wireless thermometer. It is super simple: Indoor Temp, Outdoor Temp, and an Ice Sensor. How hard would it be to assemble an Adafruit Xbee adapter and piggy back just like the Kill-a-Watt. Has anyone done this before?

Here is a closeup of the internals. Any help?

What is communicating with the RFDATA line - if you find out what the protocol is then just listening to that transmission might give you what you want...

Well, just for starters, I would plug it into my RX line just to see if its the right protocol right off the bat (give them both the same ground). If it's not, there's probably a way to have the digital pins read it but I'm not entirely sure how - you'd have to find out what part is sending the data and what protocol it uses and if you can find a library for it...
