Standalone xbee and 8 channel ADC

Post by eidur »

Hi

I am wondering if it would work using a couple of xbee´s and this ADC intigrated circuit ? : https://www.adafruit.com/products/856

That is if on one side I would have three pressure sensors and three spectra symbol softpots connected to this ADC on a breadboard and then an xbee series one takes the serial data and sends it to another xbee series 1 connected to my computer via USB-XBee-Adapter

If so... can anybody help me with the wiring, so I don´t fry this up?

All the best.

Not sure how easy it would be to control an ADC through an XBee. But the XBee has analog inputs of its own. These can be configured for "pin passing" to pass the pin state from one XBee directly to another.

Thanks for the reply

Yeah I know but it only has four ADC inputs, and I need at least six

The MCP3008 has an SPI interface. I suppose you could bit-bang it over the digital pins, but there may be an easier way. I'd recommend posting this question over on the Digi forums. They would have a better idea of the more advanced capabilities of these modules: forums.digi.com
