Xbee kit

Post by Albe »

First time ordering through adafruit. I purchased a pair of Xbee adapters (http://www.adafruit.com/products/126) and a couple of Xbees (http://www.adafruit.com/products/128). I even upped for the overnight shipping because I was excited to get my hands on the stuff. Alas, one set works like a champ the other decided to do something and almost lit the VReg on fire (burned my finger got so hot) in less than 30min of use. Now one of my Xbees wont light up and I'm frustrated to say the least. I have no idea if the Xbee I was dealt was a dud or the VReg that I was given was a dud. I know for a fact that the adapter was assembled correctly and connected correctly.

More photos, one is how it was hooked up to the Arduino. Mockup of a voltage divider 12VDC in 3 taps, used to sense water levels in sea water for a PWC trailer.

In the time before the regulator overheated, was the XBee working?
Now one of my Xbees wont light up
Have you tried swapping it to the other adapter? Just trying to see if we can isolate the source of the problem.

Yes the XBee was working just fine before. I noticed it wasn't when the green LED was no longer blinking. Afterwards I put the broken Xbee in the good adapter and got no indication of it operating.

Any heating of the regulator on the good adapter when you tried that?

Indeed it does heat up. So bad Xbee I assume?

Yup. Sounds like a bad XBee. Contact [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement.
