XBEE+Arduino+CoolTerm problem

Post by nasymt »

Hi,
I'm trying to send data between Arduino MEGA and my macbook air by XBee Series 1 wireless kit (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11445) .

My environments.
[Macbook Air side]
-Macbook Air OSⅩ10.8.4
-XBee Explorer
-XBee Modules
[Arduino side]
-Arduino MEGA
-XBee Shield
-XBee Modules

Then I'm trying to use CoolTerm to configure the XBees, and I typed "+++" .
But CoolTerm didn't return "OK" message.
When I use ZTerm, this problem is also occurred.Any hint?

I'm sorry for my poor English.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if there is an X-CTU for the mac but you need to update the firmware on the xbees and configure (or check the configuration). If you can't communicate with them all else is futile.

Recheck the setting in your terminal program. Try different Baud rates, Stop bits, and data bits.
Without X-CTU it will be harder to determine what may be wrong.
Do you have (or can borrow) a Windows PC to install X-CTU on?

Adafruit does not sell an XBee Explorer board.
It would be much better to post on SparkFun's forum since its more likely someone there know about this board.

Thank you for all your quick response.

I tried use X-CTU on the windows PC and I failed to communicate each other again.
But when I change XBee S1 into XBee S2 module,I succeed to communicate them.
I don't know why XBee S1 cannot work. But it is ok.
Thank you for your time.

By this do you mean you change to different physical modules or do you just change the code?
