My set-up:
Macbook Pro laptop with BANNED 10.9.1
FTDI cable
Adafruit XBee Adaptor Kit
Digi XBee S1
I installed the VCP driver defined in the Installation Guide for Mac at http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documen ... AC_OSX.pdf. I did NOT install the D2xx driver.
I connect the FTDI cable to the XBee adaptor (see photo) and the Green LED blinks. I contact the FTDI cable to the Mac USB port and the FTDI appears:
ls -l cu*
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 18, 3 Mar 1 00:07 cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 18, 5 Mar 1 00:07 cu.Bluetooth-Modem
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 18, 9 Mar 1 07:50 cu.usbserial-FTGVKGSK
I open ZTerm and adjust the settings (see screenshots).
I type +++ and see the OK response. I type AT and see OK. See below. Then a few seconds later I try ATBD, AT, +++ and get no response. The XBee green LED continues to flash.
I try unplugging the FTDI cable from the Mac, wait, then plug it back in. Same stalled behavior: +++ and AT give no OK response.
When I shutdown and restart the Mac I get the OK response, then it stalls again.
Any idea on what I should do to solve this?

I did not see a reply to this topic. I did some research and found DigiKey now makes the XTCU utility for Mac OS X. I downloaded it from http://www.digi.com/support/productdeta ... =utilities
It works great with the XBee units over the FTDI cable.
