I just spent ~ 3 hours and put together the VFD clock. I ran into problems with my soldering tip (my equipment malfunction), and I accidentally filled one of the high power diode holes with solder, without the diode in it! Other than equipment malfunction, things went well.
One strange thing, the voltage regulator was kicking out ~ 5.5 volts. Everything else was in order, so I ignored it (docs say should be 4.7-5.2 vdc), and the clock works perfectly well. The input voltage from the wall wart was 10 vdc. One of those mysteries in life I suppose.

Funny thing - my meter is low on battery, the 'please replace battery' thing is on. Wavetek 15XL, not sure why the voltage would be off though?
