OK to use crystal with 6pF load capacitance?

Post by Agent24 »

I think I might try making an Ice Tube Clock - I've already got a crystal here but it has 6pF load capacitance instead of the 12.5pF specified.

I assume I can use it provided I adjust the values of something else, is this correct?

If so, what do I need to change?

you would have to use different loading caps, we really suggest 12.5pF crystals ...

Well, if I give it a go I'll get a 12.5pF one from Farnell then... Though it wouldn't be too hard to change the loading capacitors, surely?
