*Resolved* Help with Monochron step "First Test".
I'm in the process of building the Monochron clock. I've arrived at the first test step (voltage should read between 4.9 and 5.1). When I test the voltage, the voltage starts at around 7.75 and climbs steadily. I'm not sure what could be causing the problem. None of the solder joints appear to be shorted/cold soldered. Any ideas?

I would check/reflow the solder joints around the voltage regulator. Oh and since I've seen it said before, post pictures of both sides of the board.
Also, probe around the completed parts of the circuit for the voltage. It sounds like a capacitor is charging up to the input voltage (9V), does stop climbing when it gets there?

Here is the front and back. As you might be able to tell, I'm a complete novice in the soldering department. Also, it does not stop at 9V.

Absolutely stellar advice! I'm now getting a completely different, and somewhat consistent reading. It's now reading between 5.04 and 5.05. You've certainly made my week. Thank you very much.adafruit wrote:check your multimeter battery
