Monochron: 5V, but no beeps

Post by eggplantǃ »

Stuck at the beep test. The 5V test passes fine (steady 5.05V) but I get no beeps at the beep test. I looked over my parts and solder joints and don't see anything obvious to my untrained eye. Took some pictures (click through for big versions). Any suggestions?

that does sound suspicious BUT since the voltage is OK we suggest continuing anyways. see if the display comes up. if you built and theres no display, email support@adafruit and ask for a new chip!

Welp,

I soldered everything else up. The LED and switch work, the LCD appears to work (if I turn the pot all the way I see all the pixels glow), I checked the 5V power one more time and it appears to be fine. Still no beeps and no animation on the display. Bad chip you think?

Just a followup--

I received my replacement chip today, and everything works great! Thanks!
