Ice Tube Build 5v regulator

Post by DarrenG »

In the build guide for the Ice Tube kit the pic of the 5v regulator here shows a blob of solder between it and the contact area on the circuit board which is not mentioned in the text at all?

Is this necessary? I am guessing that there may need to be an electrical connection here and as the kit now comes with plastic mounting screws this is now achieved by solder or is is this just a tack to aid install and not required?

I want to get the kit built correctly, have got as far as the multimeter tests and all Ok so far but wanted to check I wasn't missing something here?

it isnt, but if you do it might be easier to assemble the clock
