Timesquare watch matrix problem

Post by dlukach »

Hello Adafruit, I am having trouble with the time square watch kit I built today. Upon completion the watch was working except from the top, the 3rd and 5th row is not lighting up. I checked my solder on all components and even re soldered connections I thought were wrong. Can somebody suggest a solution to my problem and/or the pins that control those 2 rows?

The schematics and full board files are here: https://github.com/adafruit/TIMESQUARE-DIY-Watch-Kit
If you post photos of your soldering we'll see if we can spot any problem.

The first photo is a little dark, but the soldering on the display pins doesn't look too bad. However, it looks like you have some cold solder joints elsewhere. Unfortunately with these watches, many of the critical soldering joints are under the display and we can't see them without removing the display.

Read through this tutorial and touch up any joints that aren't smooth and shiny. http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guid ... n-problems
