Solder Time Watch has Case Issue

Post by Kb3zvn »

Please see the picture enclosed. We had no problem building the PCB and components... However there is an issue with the case.

It would appear that one of the layers of the case is too thick. Its the layer level with the PCB. There is no space for the Battery on that level. In the photo you can see that the edge of the battery rests atop this layer. This causes an issue when you go to bolt the case down. The battery disconnects from the PCB and cuts power to the watch.

Is this a known issue? Can we get a replacement case or must we attempt to modify that layer by ourselves?

This happens sometimes with laser-cut parts. The thickness of acrylic sheet is not so consistent and there can be significant variations even within a single sheet.

Spikenzie Labs makes these kits for us and if you contact them directly they can get you set up with a piece that fits.
