Alarm not working on Ice Tube Clock

Post by mjb54 »

Just finished building this awesome kit. Everything and I mean everything works perfectly except for the alarm switch. Moving the switch between on and off does NOT toggle the dash in the display. In fact, the menu option allows me to set the time for the alarm but regardless of which way the slide switch is set, the dash does not come on and the alarm never sounds.

Could this be a bad switch, a bad solder joint, or something else? What would be the best way to test it to determine the problem and the solution?

Very much appreciate your assistance!

Best regards,
Michael :?

If you post photos of the front & back of the main board, we'll check the assembly.

Thank you for your help. I removed the circuit board from the case and removed the tube as well. I left the bottom pcb screws in place.

If you need anything further, please let me know!

Regards,
Michael

The photos are a little fuzzy, so it is hard to judge the joints. The alarm switch connects to pin 4 of the main processor. From the bottom view, pin 4 seems to have an unusually large blob of solder. Check to make sure it is not shorting out against any other pins or traces.
