Monochrome clock LCD has a flash every 2 seconds

Post by valicon »

Hi:

I built my Monochrome clock several months ago and it was working great. As of today, there is a slight background flash on the LCD every 2 seconds or so. Does anyone know what that can be? Adjusting the contrast or brightness has no effect. The display is clearly visible however the "backgroud" flash happens every 2 seconds or so. Any thoughts on what can be wrong?

Thanks

Does it look like the backlight is flashing, or is it something on the graphics?
Does it happen while you are in the menus, or only when displaying time?

It is definately the background and it is consistent. I think it only does it when displaying the time. How can I fix this?

It is definately the background
What do you mean by "background? Is it the backlight or the LCD?

Also: which firmware are you running? Pong? DaliChron? Other?

It is the LCD. As far as the firmware, how do I check? It is the firmware that came with the kit.

The clock shows Pong so I am assuming the firmware is Pong...

Hmmm. There haven't been any changes to the Pong firmware in about 3 years. Let me check if anyone else has seen this problem.

This is the first time we have heard of anything like this. Post photos of the front & back of the main board and one of your soldering on the display header.

Thanks for the reply. I removed the clock from the case and found 3 header pins where the solder came loose. I re-soldered the joints and the clock is back in business :-)

Thanks for your help!
