Ice cube clock schematic

Post by lesizz »

I need a complete schematic of the ice cube clock for troubleshooting. I don't have Eagle installed on my system. Is there an online schematic in .pdf or other some other common format?

The design page covers the entire schematic - in sections. https://learn.adafruit.com/ice-tube-clock-kit/design
Eagle is a free download: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-eagl ... anguage=en

The design page mentioned by Bill is superb, and I can highly recommend it. I vaguely remember that there was a minor part omitted, and having just looked at the page, I think that part was R5. R5, a 10k resistor, is used as a pull-down for the gate of Q2***, the boost N-FET, and R5*** ensures that the N-FET is off when the microcontroller is in the reset state.

*** Part names corrected after initial post.

Here are some letter-sized PDF "print outs" of the Eagle design files: the board layout, a large schematic (easier-to-read two page version), and a smaller schematic (harder-to-read one page version).

And as it would happen it was R5 I was looking for. I have my clock running now.
I encapsulated the tube in clear casting resin, to enhance the ice cube effect. Looks pretty cool. Will post a picture when I have it all completed.
Thanks for the replies.

You're very welcome.

I'm guessing that noticed already, but I made an error in my last post. The boost N-FET is Q2--not Q3. My apologies.

Encasing the tube in resin sounds like a really neat idea. I'll look forward to seeing how that looks.

Definitely sounds cool. Be sure to post your photo in our clock gallery: http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14769
