my new toy ....

Post by alphatronique »

Hi All

i past last several year doing small comercial production on old zevatech pick place machine
that small machine similar in size to manncorp 77xx so it fit well on small shop

but whit year my need increase so i rebuild machine software/ hardware
that was ok ,but still got soon the limit of that kind of machine
work but got around 1% of mispick ,part dropped ,or any other kind of problem
1% was not so Huge but this mean that need to visually inspect every board before reflow
and place by hand any QFP ,QFN ,BGA so most of IC so lost of time and money ..

after write down my need and look form really long time on web for find a machine
that was good ,very reliable ,do whit easy every IC ,and of size that may enter my shop
the list end whit noting ... i not take in account any entry level machine

so now come time then next logical step "the crazy pick place project"
for enter machine here it must pass in 33" door and down stair ~6 feet
first idea was got a really good price from friend of me a GSM-1
but machine was 5700Lbs and 66" x 88" , have look for dismantle it and resemble it on spot
but frame still to big and wife not happy whit idea to "make" a new door
so forced to forgot the idea ..

so come the plant "B" got a barely used Mydata TP-9U
dissembled it 33" wide x 8 feet long ,1300LBS
that machine place any thing whit Repetability of 1.6mil ,have full flying vision ,etc etc
that machine was build in 1993 but got major upgrade by mydata staff around 2004-2005
electronic/computer rack was upgraded whit other general rebuild for turn it it to TP9-U
only major difference whit current rebuild machine was lack of the hydra head (7 head)
i only have the midas ultra precise head that was reated to ~4800 part/H
so it really killer machine and ok expensive but it trouble free and reliable ...
that link to original speck Before the major update in 2004 ..
http://www.perel.fi/pdf/tp9-2u.pdf

but did some one was so crazy to enter in on it home basement ? yes me of course

so this week i complete the transaction and machine status validation whit mydata
and machine was now on pallet ready for travel from USA to Canada

i expect machine be here around 10 april ready for remove some part and enter shop
this week-end i will build the 2 crane on the basement entry for permit to enter the machine
and make it pass the stair lot of fun in perceptive ..

will try to document the procedure in case some one else got that crazy idea to ..

p.s. my old Zevatech will be for sale one new machine in operation ..

Best regard ....

Hi all

some update ...

finally got the machine Friday ,truck company phone for tell it was impossible to deliver it
whit-out a truck duck  so i have got take machine myself whit a platform towing to transport company terminal and bright back home ...

it take 2 hour to pass machine whit electric winch on the basement entry , we remove stair
and build ramp for move machine inside ... and of course put machine on caster for rolling it
from unpack to machine on it final position take ~7 hour

good new even whit delicate operation to suspend a 1300lbs on 2 cheap winch
and put machine at 45 deg angle and pass it on 2 doorway whit ~1" margin
we broke noting

Wow. That looks pretty awesome in your basement, congratulations.

I take it you have no plans to move? As in, ever?

Hi

ho ya that the last home for that machine

it will not come out in one piece and in working condition for sure

that far better video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIsIfGarn3g

the good news is that it seem in good working condition ,small issue but that normal

i replace hard drive last night since it something freeze and generate interup timeout on pc

still need to find how make auto board locate working whit fiducial
that may a case of "read the . manual" ,but in not have it

and resolve issue whit nozzle changer when release/grab tool something Z motor timeout
this may due to calibration or bad nozzle will wait new nozzle to come for be sure
i think that nozzle o-ring was become to hard whit time since even manual tool change was difficult

have already put my software staff on a tool for link it to my part database and translate
from -cad 2006 to mydata import format just like i do on zevatech
