Hi

honestly i not place 0201 part on any of my design and my customer not seem to use it to
i just use it for doing test

as for 0402 i place allot for one of my customer and it not pose issue
it have a application note that "float" on the net about right bend shape of tape clip
that may cause vibration make part jump out of pocket if spring it not right shape
probably much more realistic that "static" i knot that my TP9-UFP all X was all metal (stain less)
so head was grounded for sure ,but my TP9-2U (older) use teflon roller on anodised rail but even here wire harness ground it to machine frame ,anyway no one what to zap IC whit static right on the pick place right ?

that the service note check page 23-24
http://www.smtnet.com/Forums/Attachment ... ent_ID=272

but honestly if you plan to place lot of 0201 go whit agilis was a good option ...

IC-tray have 2 option , use magnetic clip and put it on work table as whit pcb ,it have table for fit conveyor to .. , or use tray changer it kind of tray tower that fit instead of feeder

image was one of the magnetic clip, need one in 4 corner of the tray ...

Hi

many thanks, most questions would require using it for a while to see how this or that does work. To my understanding, the manufacturer of those mashines are too closed to customers. If they would give you a better oportunity to touch base to their euipment, sales would be much easier - beside - they hide something.

Speaking to the sales people, it is very hard to get informations!

Cheers
Linus

Hello All,
I found your Mydata hacking forum today, and am amazed at the level to which you work with these machines. (Fuji IP Feeders mounted on the Blue Mydata ????) I work on a Mydata TP9-UFP that was purchased used, and feel I am whistling past the graveyard every time I power it on. I have spoken briefly with techs at Mydata who have been extremely helpful answering a few questions in the short time they'd speak to me, but can not afford the cost of registering with them for service. Could I please ask some questions of you to help debug a few issues that I have come across?

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Marc,
Thanks for the reply. I'll get together my notes from an issue I saw last week, but meanwhile, maybe you can help me with a quick question. Earlier in this thread you mentioned a "magic word". I have use the ANDERS or AKUANKKA password to change switch settings for fiducial reads etc. However, I don't know anything about this "magic word". Is this something that I can recover and record while my machine is up and running?

Thanks again,

Dave

Hi

ANDERS and AKUANKKA was password for change parameter and switch
if my memory was good ANDERS was for parameter and AKUANKKA was for switch
parameter = kind of windows registry is here that all lachine setting was
production switch = global setting that user may change during production

"magic word" was the software key that enable the software to run on your machine
so if you lost it and HD fail you was in trouble ... and need to call mydata

go on top menu "editor" --> "parameter" the scrol down to last page and you will see someting line in that image , 191 was magic word and 241 that was time lock

both was 12 char long alphanumeric number case sensitive

that was tie to machine serial Number/Type , software version ,machine option
so all must match if not machine will not work

also i may good to know which version of software you use , and if machine boot and hardware initialise after boot-up .. ( normally if it initialise all was fine) and never buy machine that not initialise except if you want to have lot of fun

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the info. Looking at the menu on the photo it appears the options are for printing the data. My printer has never been setup with this machine. Is troubleshooting this a difficult affair? I remember when I got the machine a year ago, connecting the printer to the machine, but getting no response. Since I always feel nervous working with this machine, so as not to break something, I never tried to troubleshoot the printer function.

Hi

just use Up/Dn arrow for hight light line then press enter for see content on monitor

in parameter if you about to make something that may dangerous it will ask password
(ok alway make cotion playing on parameter)
but it also on parameter that need to go for fix printer

but it good idea to make a full backup "utility" --> "Backup"

p.s. also it may interest you to know that lewis and clark make service for that machine
and have part that avoid to register machine to mydata .. please note that i not have any affiliation whit it or else ,just in the past but some part and machine from it whit good experience..

Hi

just a small update to my project to fit a PIII computer on my TP9-UFP

i finally make it work

the trick was fairly simple you need a board that come from MyData
it put a semi custom award BIOS on it mainboard (probably just a kind of lock)

only visual change was text string "configured for MyData VVG2"

next step was to order same mainboard but with original bios for validate my theory

next project was to add agilis support ,already know where find the right CAN-BUS card

Hi Marc,
Nice work with the Pentium III. Thanks for the L and C service info. I was not aware that they offered service as I had gone down that road once before with no luck. I'll have to find out more about that. I have already gone through the Utility menu to create a Backup, but regarding the printer, is it simply a matter of enabling the printer in the Parameter screen, or is there more to it than that?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi

on my side i use lan printer i just set ip address and HPGL as language and it work

you may set it by edit parameter or by exit to unix and type "setPrinter"
make caution in linux it case sensitive
if work you just have to reply to question machine will ask to you
but for non lan printer it need old compatible dot-matrix printer

then type "go" or "halt" if you what to reboot or shut down as you wish ..

that assume you run TpSYS 2.0 and UP

Hi Marc,
I do have the old dot matrix printer from another machine. I will try it through the edit parameter screen.

Thanks,

Dave
