Solder fume extraction
I'm fairly new to the maker world, and have just recently been looking into getting a fume extractor/absorber. I work in a basement (only option, really) that has a small window a few feet over my bench. I really don't want to spend more than $50, but I don't want to be exposed to the flux, either. Also, I'm not really a heavy solderer.

You could try some variant on what bobfixesstuff described, perhaps?

I saw that, and it might be an option, but my window is just too far away, I think.

You don't really need extraction as the overall volume of fumes is minimal unless you're running a solder pot or wavesolder machine.
If it's causing you a problem, you just need to get it out of the immediate vicinity of your face, and a 4" fan blowing across the bench is more than adequate.

Okay. I was thinking that because I work in an enclosed space that I might attach a carbon filter to a small dc fan.

I've done some more looking and am going to go for a 120mm case fan with the replacement filters for a Weller extractor. Thanks for the help!
