Tektronix 2235, which probes

Post by mikfig »

I just got a Tektronix 2235 oscilloscope off ebay for $120 (shipping included). You can see it here. I don't know much about oscilloscopes or electronics in general. I bought it because I am starting to get into hardware hacking. I picked up Hacking the Xbox: Introduction to Reverse Engineering and it sounds like an absolutely amazing opportunity to get into a new hobby. I'm already good with C/C++ and recently learning assembly. Anyways, I just bought the aforementioned oscilloscope and I had a couple questions. First off, I was wondering if this is a good oscilloscope and if the description sounds like one that is in useable/working condition. I didn't want to spend a ton o money on it, and based on what I've seen, it looked like a great deal. My second question is then, does it matter what kind of probes I get? Something like this looked good to me. But of course I wanted to make sure I was getting something thats going to work well for me.

Thanks,
mikfig
