I remember once using a TEK scope to debug an LSI-11 and had 'fireworks' due to both being plugged into different 3 prong outlets with one wired bassackwards! (Neither device got fried, but scope probes were toast!).
I have a 1KW 120/240 volt isolation transformer I got surplus. I'm thinking I can use this as a 500W isolation transformer for three 120v devices at the same time by wiring half the primary to the line and use the remaining half primary and the two halves of each secondary to power each device. The transformer is actually constructed as having four identical windings which can be connected in series or parallel as required. It could even be used as a 240/480 step up/down auto transformer.
What think?
