Trying out my new USB microscope. VERY easy to use and impressive image quality. This shows a whole new world. This is the real deal.
But when trying to view certain textured surfaces, such as a flat cast surface or the SOC on the Raspberry Pi, the image is progressively greyed out. It gets worse under perfect focus. It had the behavior of a copy protection scheme, so I started looking at currency and official certificates, which had no problems. Here is what I'm seeing on the Raspberry Pi SOC:
What in the world? This only happens on a perfectly focused textured surface of a chip or metal surface. Do I have a bad debian binary of uvcvideo? Anyone else have this problem?

SOLVED. One of debian's libraries used to scale the video stream has a bug. This doesn't happen at other resolutions.
