I like my new FX-888, but WTF?

I just used my new Hakko FX-888 for the first time and I'm very happy with it, but what I really wanted was the FX-888D. And that's why I asked customer support on Jan 15 if they would be carrying the FX-888D any time soon. I was told that the company wasn't stocking it and that I should look at the FX-888 instead. So that's what I ordered two days later. Now, based on dates from forum posts, it looks like the FX-888D has been in the store since Jan 20, just five days after I asked about it! I am not impressed!

we did not expect the new units to arrive that quickly. the purchasing dept. had placed an order and they happen to show up much earlier than expected.
