Hello,
I have purchased a 3.7v 2600mAh lithium ion polymer battery for my senior design project. I know from the information page that the battery has protection from overcharging and completely discharging. My adviser wants to know how it's being done. Is this info you can provide for me?
Thank you!

Re: Need info on a Battery
The overcharge protection is accomplished by monitoring the battery voltage. When it reaches the full charge level of 4.2v, it will cut off the charge.
This is kind of a backup protection since all of our chargers have overcharge protection built in. They will reduce the charge current as it starts to approach 4.2v and cut off at 4.2v also.
The discharge protection circuit is comparing against the safe low-voltage limit for the battery. This limit is set by the manufacturer and is usually in the 2.5-3v range.

Do you know the name of the manufacturer? I am trying to find out exactly how they protect the battery?
Thank you.

There are several sources for the 2600mAh cells. Our 4400 and 6600 batteries come from Tenergy.
