Loss connection on brown wire for barcode scanner

Post by ericchou »

Received my barcode scanner with USB on Wednesday, http://www.adafruit.com/products/1203, however the brown cable coming out of the tube did not have the shielding and the wire looks like it might just break at any moment.

Uploaded the picture with this topic.

Contacted support but they suggested me to open a forum topic. Any suggested? Thanks.

Eric

Is the scanner still working? If that is the USB version that wire would be the shield wire and is not used directly for communication. It just helps keep the noise out.

If the inner wires are still intact, a small cable tie or a few turns of electrical tape would stabilize it. If that doesn't work for you, let us know.
