I did a quick search for rangefinders and all the hits were ultrasonic range finders. Are ultrasonic sensors what I want to use? I want to use a few rangefinders to act as "eyes" for a mobile robot. The rangefinder that comes with a Lego NXT set looks much different than yours. Theirs looks like a pair of eyes. I my device needs to have a narrow cone of influence to isolate the intended range requested.
Thank You,
Michael

Re: Rangefinders
The Lego sensor is an ultrasonic sensor. One 'eye' is the transmiter, the other 'eye' is the receiver. The Maxbotix sensors we carry in the store use the same transducer for both transmit & receive, so they only hav one 'eye'. They come in various models with different ranges and fields of view.
