Hi all, I'm trying to run Ambibox but nothing works, other sofware like prismatik and adalight script works fine, but with AmbiBox LEDs stay off.

I tried all capture methods, restarting windows, reinstalling software... and nothing happens

Here's my settings Image

Thanks!

You should try their site for help http://www.ambibox.ru/en/index.php/Main_Page this is not something Adafruit provides support for.

I've been trying to get the Ambibox plugin to work with XBMC Gotham 13.2.
Ambibox is set to XBMC Direct, and the proflies are also set up correctly.

When launching a movie in XBMC it will ask which profile to choose, upon selecting one, the Profile switches on Ambibox but the LEDs stay OFF.

Any ideas?

Please copy and paste your XBMC.log file here: http://xbmclogs.com/ and then post the link in this forum.
You may want to try the latest development release here: https://github.com/AmbiBox/script.ambib ... delay2.zip
You will need to manually install to your add-ons directory. Be sure to delete the previous version.

Check this value in the windows registry using regedit.exe for the profile you are using, please:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Server IR\Backlight\Profiles\XXXXX\Grabber
where XXXX is the profile name.

That is where the add-on detects whether it is an XBMCDirect capture. It should be equal to 8.

It was set to 6. Why isn't ambibox saving the Profiles correctly? LEDs work now.

Not sure about that. Just double check that in the Ambibox windows program everything looks ok for the profiles you want to use for XBMCDirect and you should be good to go.

Yep..everything looks fine. It just didn't save the data correctly to registry.

Hope someone can help me out.

Privious I had xbmc 12.2 and ambibox 2.1.4 with xbmc direct and it was working. After an update to xbmc Gothem yesterday the leds are not switching on when playing a movie. I also installed ambibox 2.1.5 to see if this helps, but still - no luck

After the start of xbmc I get two notifications ambibox - connected and set to default, I also get the notification (profil set to default) after starting a movie)

I have tried everything that I could find thu the last sides
"Please check that in the program itself that after clicking 'Intelligent backlight display' and selecting the tab 'Additional settings' that the checkbox next to 'Turn On/Off API server is checked and that your settings have been saved.
checked
Also ensure that on your settings page that the server address is 127.0.0.1 and the port is 3636. It is likely that this is fine and not the issue
checked
Also, try shutting down and restarting the windows AmbiBox program
done, more than once
Check this value in the windows registry using regedit.exe for the profile you are using, please:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Server IR\Backlight\Profiles\XXXXX\Grabber
where XXXX is the profile name.

It is set to 8

xbmc log http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=293797

After posting the log here I created a new profil within ambibox called xbmc, changed the setting in the ambibox addon to xbmc, but it is still not working.

If I switch ambibox on, the leds are changing their color three times

Try the newest addon from here:
https://github.com/AmbiBox/script.ambib ... delay2.zip

After placing the new script in the correct directory, please go to the settings page and review all of the settings.
Please ensure that your profile is selected in the profile for XBMCDirect.

If still not working, please upload a log using the above addon and post the link here.

I am phasing that out. XBMC does not have any simple way to discover a video file's/stream's dimensions and frame rate. mediainfo.dll can retrieve this, but in the current development version, I am reading that info from XBMC.log. Not a pretty hack, but I've asked the XBMC dev's to make that stuff available and my requests have fallen on deaf ears.

So short answer is that in 99% of circumstances, you don't need it anymore.
