Tutorial - Arduino development using Eclipse/gcc for TFT Touch Shield

Postby bit.cyber » Sun Jan 20, 2013 8:16 am

Hi,
I've recently been working on a project that will use an Arduino Mega 2560 and TFT Touch shield. In particular I didn't want to use the Arudino IDE for various reasons, rather the gcc toolset (with Eclipse). I couldn't find a complete reference for a tutorial that was up to date and which actually worked for me.

So I went ahead and created a tutorial on my website. The first part covers the basics and then the second part covers creating an application to use the Adafruit TFT Touch Shield.

You can find the tutorial on my website at:
1st part http://aethersdr.org/blogs/colin/arduino_sans_ide_tutorial
2nd part http://aethersdr.org/blogs/colin/arduino_sans_ide_tft_touch

Hopefully people will find this useful and if you have any questions/comments, feel free to reply or post a comment on my site.

Also see two further postings I've made in regard to using a recent version of the gcc toolset and making available the STL C++ libraries:

Arduino development with avr-gcc 4.7.0 and avr-libc 1.8.0 - http://aethersdr.org/blogs/colin/arduino_with_updated_gcc
Arduino development with STL - http://aethersdr.org/blogs/colin/arduino_with_stl

Happy hacking. Colin
