running multiple 4-Digit 7-Segment Display w/I2C Backpack with RPi

Post by karlm »

I am interested in running multiple "0.56 inch 4-Digit 7-Segment Display w/I2C Backpack" displays connected to a single Raspberry Pi over an I2C bus. Is this possible? Altogether, I am looking at a project with eight of them, and a lcd touch display, and 8 more gas sensors. Besides power consumption issues, is this possible?
Thanks for helping the newbie!

Yes, it is possible. These have 3 configurable address bits so you can have as many as 8 on an i2c bus: http://learn.adafruit.com/delorean-time ... background
