Drivers for white LED strip

Post by kenahoo »

Hi,

I've purchased a roll of the warm white LED strip (http://www.adafruit.com/products/357) for use as undercabinet lighting. I had an electrician over to install it, but we each thought the other was supplying the driver for it, so it didn't happen. So now I need to find a driver.

There are actually 2 locations - one is about a 2-foot long strip with a standard wall switch. The other is about 6 or 7 feet (in 2 equal sections), with a wall dimmer switch.

I was thinking about this driver for the dimmable side: http://www.elementalled.com/12v-dimmable-driver.html - but it's pretty pricey. It might be worth it if it "just works" though. Opinions?

For the non-dimmed side, I see that Adafruit recommends http://www.adafruit.com/products/352 , but I think I'd prefer a hard-wired option, so I was thinking something like this: http://www.elementalled.com/12v-driver.html . Seem okay?

The electrician prefers a clip connector to soldering, I guess - has anyone tried the RGB connectors ( http://www.adafruit.com/products/1004 ) to see whether the spacing works? Otherwise maybe http://www.elementalled.com/clicktight- ... ector.html ?

Thanks!

Based on the specs, those 12v drivers should work with these strips. The RGB solderless connectors will work with our white strips also.
