Need 781 USB Serial Backback

Post by elcantinero »

I bought an Adafruit RGB backlight negative LCD 16x2 (PID: 399) by itself a few months ago and now I want to buy a 781 USB serial backpack to use with it. I cannot find the 781 USB serial backpack listed in the Adafruit catalog. How do I go about ordering one? I also need to order two JST 3-pin cables. Are these available from Adafruit?

I Second this thread as those are 2 things I too am looking for aswell...

I would like to buy the USB/Serial Backpack that's included in this combo http://www.adafruit.com/products/784 For my Adafruit RGB 16x2 LCD I bought a long time ago.

Also 3pin-JST male + Female plugs and 3 wire spooled cable would also be really helpful for my Neopixel Strands.

I'm not sure the USB + Serial backpack was ever available separately. Are you maybe thinking of the I2C/SPI character LCD backpack?

You can use the 4-pin JSTs and leave one pin empty

That backpack doesn't let you control the rgb backlight via serial like the one in the bundle does.... I, and I'm sure many others, would like to control the full features of the lcd with one serial wire with that Serial/usb backpack. So can you guys make the "USB/Serial Backpack for RGB LCD" available to buy as a separate item?

True, this would also work for the double ground stabilization for the Neopixels, but do you have a 4wire cable on a spool for sale that's the same gauge as these connectors?

I'll bring it up at HQ.

Nope, not that I know of. But I found a nice spool of color-coded 4-conductor at *gasp* *brrr!* Radio Shack. Alternately, I've been known to stick a few lengths of stranded hookup wire into a drill chuck and twist up a nice cable.

How long will it take for it to become available to buy?

No decisions have been made yet. No ETA.

Its been awhile, but I would also like to buy the 781 serial backpack. That's how it is listed on my invoice as a part of item 784, the RGB 16x2 display.
One-wire control makes it very useful for my ATtiny85 projects.
Please put a fire under this kettle :)
Thanks!
