NeoPixel strips and ping pong balls..

Post by ominouschaos »

Has anyone ever tried gluing ping pong balls to the NeoPixel strips?

I have a project idea, but I would need a nice way to diffuse the light, and maybe make it look as if they're individual bulbs.

Thanks for any replies!

30 standard-sized (40mm) ping-pong balls would be 1200mm. They would not fit on a 30 pixel/meter strip. You might consider our 12mm pixel strands. You could drill a hole in the ball and stick the pixels right in. http://www.adafruit.com/index.php?main_ ... xel+strand

Or you could use our new 30mm 'dots' by themselves. http://www.adafruit.com/products/1547

Ah, alright, thanks!

I did take a bit of time to look for some smaller ping pong balls, and I've found some in China. They're commonly used for cosmetic purposes, as in roll on deodorant type products, but they seem as though they would do the job just fine!
