I recently ordered a neopixel ring and 8 neopixel strip. Upon receiving them I promptly soldered some wire to the ring and header pins to the strip. I then loaded the strand test sketch onto my arduino duemilanove and uploaded it making sure to edit the code for the proper number of pixels. The strip worked just fine but the ring did not. When everything is plugged in (+, -, Data) the green led on the first pixel lights up just a bit but nothing else works. If I remove the ground wire the first pixel lights up with a mix of green and blue.
Any ideas of what I should do to further troubleshoot the issue?
I have a 400 Ohm resistor in line with the data and both neopixel setups were running off the 5V pin on the arduino.
Update : I tried it with a 220 Ohm resistor and now it goes through a few seconds of the sketch and then the first pixel freaks out and the others stick at almost full RGB values.

Re: 16 LED Neopixel ring
That sounds like an I/O problem. Could you post a photo of your setup please?
