Malfunctioning ILI9340 display
All I'm getting is a white screen. I've torn it down and re-wired 2-3 times. Admittedly it's on a breadboard which supposedly doesn't do hi-freq very well. At the moment it's in parts again so I can't send a photo. I did re-solder the header pins on the breakout just to make sure the joints were nice and shiny. I'm going to bypass the breadboard and make up something on veroboard to make sure but I think it's just not working.

Which library are you using? What kind of Arduino? Is this the breakout or the shield?

It's an Uno. I'm using the breakout with Adafruit_TFTLCD_Library_master.

Did it work previously? Is this a new problem? When did you get this screen - we discontinued them a few months ago...

Re: Malfunctioning ILI9340 display
I ordered it September 3rd but I never got around to using it until recently. It has never worked. Unfortunately I worked on software for it before I tried it.
The product page just says that it's out of stock. Is there a replacement that uses the same 18 bit color scheme? I don't want a shield as I don't want to use an "official" Arduino in my project and I don't need a touch screen either.

Re: Malfunctioning ILI9340 display
That display was discontinued. Currently, all we have is the new ILI9341-based shield. I believe we are planning to release a breakout version of the display in the not-too-distant future.
The new display is SPI, not parallel.
The parallel nature of the old breakout means that it's fairly easy to have wiring issues. I wouldn't give up on it just yet - if you can get it hooked up again, there are some diagnostics we can do.

If I can get a credit I'll use the ILI9341 and make something on a DIY shield kit to run it. I've already spent too much time on this one.

Re: Malfunctioning ILI9340 display
The tutorial for 2.2 " TFT display is for the discontinued 8340. It links to the 8340 library which doesn't work with the 2.2" display you are shipping. If I had actually read the numbers on the display instead of just going by '2.2" TFT' I could have saved myself a lot of head scratching.
I think you guys should get rid of the old tutorial or at least put up a big warning sign.
Sigh. RTFM

Yes, you're right - we really need a new tutorial. It's one of those things that's on the list ...

Re: Malfunctioning ILI9340 display
It only takes a minute to insert a message at the beginning. "This is not the currently shipping 2.2" display. Look here <link>."
Then just add "cleanup 2.2 display tutorials" at the end of the list.
