I'm a electronics newbie, I am interested in wiring an el wire to an Arduino and powering it through a wall outlet for a project. I was wondering how to go about choosing the appropriate wall outlet and any additional things I need to before attempting this.
Thanks Kevin

Can you explain a little more what you want to do with the EL Wire and Arduino? I take it you are planning to control the wire from the Arduino. How many sections of wire do you want to control?

The closest thing we have to that is a sound activated inverter: http://www.adafruit.com/products/831
You could probably hack it to respond to light levels instead of sound levels, but we don't have any tutorials on the subject.

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear in my question. I want to know how to size and implement an ac power supply?

The first thing you need to do is define the voltage and current requirements for your project.I want to know how to size and implement an ac power supply?
