Issue with addressable RGB LED pixels strand

Post by regulus75 »

Hello,

I recently purchased the addressable RGB LED pixels strand (http://www.adafruit.com/products/322) for use on the adalight project (http://learn.adafruit.com/adalight-diy- ... g/overview).

I have set up everything as required, however only the led closest to the arduino lights up. The rest remain off. I installed the Adafruit_WS2801 library also and tried running the strandtest, but the same thing still happens. Only the first led closest to the arduino lights up, and the rest remain off. The led continues to light up even if the arduino is unplugged from the led strips. The LED also does not change in color, and remains blue no matter what code I upload. Furthermore, that LED becomes very hot, while the other LEDs remain cool.

I have triple check the wiring. Currently my blue wire is connected to ground, my green clock wire to Pin 3, and my yellow data wire into Pin 2. The data input is going into the LEDs with the direction of the arrow. The power is connected on the other end of the led strand.
