I recently purchased an IR LED and sensor for use in a
Science Olympiad event that I am coaching.

Yesterday, we discovered that we could not get the circuit working as
described in the tutorial you have online
(http://learn.adafruit.com/ir-sensor/tes ... -ir-sensor). It seems that
the sensor has a shorted output - as soon as I connect up the circuit, my
indicator LED glows a dim red, and does not respond to any IR source.
The kids compete this weekend, and it would be really helpful if you could
get me a replacement part by Wednesday (5 Mar 2014 or refer me to an
Adafruit reseller in Reno, NV, who could sell me a replacement.
Kindest Regards,
John G.

Re: IR Sensor
I just received my replacement part. When I connect it up as shown in the tutorial, does the flat side of the IR sensor face me, or does the rounded side face me?

Re: IR Sensor
The rounded side should face the IR source.
