Nokia 5110 backlight

Nokia 5110 backlight
I just got the Nokia 5110 display. I do not have anything connected to the LED pin, but the 4 backlight LEDs still come on. I tried connecting the LED pin to +3.3 volts and it didn't change the brightness, so it seems they are fully on. Shouldn't these LEDs be off if the LED pin is unconnected?

Please post clear, detailed photos showing your soldering. Maybe you have a short.

That all looks OK. Unfortunately, I don't have one of these, and I don't know whether or not this is expected behavior. I've asked if somebody else knows.

its controlled by a mosfet IIRC, tie it to ground if you dont want the backlight on.
