RGB LED light strip failing

Post by Mrtallguy67 »

Hello,

I purchased the following products from you back in December. These parts were installed as under and over cabinet lighting and were a Christmas gift for my wife.

The install went well and I was pleased with the product, but recently I have been experiencing LED failures and sections of LED's in the strips changing to solid colors on their own. This, as you can probably guess is making me frustrated and am disappointed in the results. I have already replaced the "BAD" sections with the remaining LED's I had after the initial install. This had solved the problem, but only temporarily. I now have more sections that have gone "BAD" and no more LED's to replace them with.

I wanted to do this right, so I purchased the parts from Aidafruit rather than buying some low end Chinese set up. I spent a considerable amount for the set up from you. I hope you are able to help me resolve these problems.

Here is a list of the products purchased:
x 5 Solder-less Analog RGB LED strip clips.
x2 RF touch wheel controller for Analog RGB light strips.
x2 Female DC power adapter 2.1 mm.
x2 12v 5a power supply.
x2 16' roll of weatherproof Flexi-strip LED.
x2 Terminal blocks 4 pin euro style.

I can take addition pictures of the connections, but I felt that since I am using your recommended solder less connections these shouldn't be an issue. (I installed them as directed with the adhesive backing removed and the waterproof jacket removed.) All other connections (The one from the controller to the strip itself is soldered and connected using wire nuts.)

Also as a side note I am running approximately 14' of LED's per power supply and there is about a 6' section of wire separating the last 4 feet of LED's from the main run. (All lights in the picture were set to be on white per the controller unit. and 95% of my failures tend to happen in the first section of LED's closest to the power supply.)

Thanks for you assistance,
Chris

P.S. I am having trouble getting a picture to load into the message. Could someone provide me with an email address to send them to if needed.

If you resize the pictures to be less than 1MB in size, they should be OK to post. 800X600 is typically a good size.

Will you be able to do anything to help me remedy my problem? Possibly some replacement LED's once the issue is discovered and resolved?

Hello, I just wanted to check in and see if there were any new updates? I used all the LED's I had left to replace the malfunctioning sections, but am once again experiencing issues with sections failing at random and have nothing else to use. My cabinets now look like I used cheap Christmas lights to decorate them.... :( Please let me know what can be done to fix the system or if a replacement will be issued.

Thanks,
Chris

this purchase was from 2013-12-13 (that's over 6 months ago) - this is outside our return/replacement time period.

Yes this purchase was months ago, but I was unable to find any written information as to the warranty. These light failed months ago, and I reached out via email at that time. Even if you wont warranty the problem dosen't the manufacturer offer a warranty for a period of time? My toster has a 1 year warranty, and it didnt cost me 400 dollars. Surely for the price they ask for them, they would be willing to stand behind their products.

Please let me know what can be done or who else I should be contacting.
