2.8" TFT LCD Shield w/Cap Touch and microSD - Touch not work

Post by mkroll »

Hello support,
I today received the "2.8" TFT LCD Shield w/Cap Touch and microSD" shield I ordered in your online shop.
I tested the demo sketched where only graphics is involved successfully.

Finally I tried the touch paint sample which fails returning the following error:

Touch Paint!
Couldn't start touchscreen controller

I downloaded the latest libraries from github as described in the Learn section: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-2-8 ... -shield-v2

I'm running the shield on an Arduino Uno R3, which is currently not working. Any hints what might went wrong here?
Thanks,
Michael.

Please post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of the shield, showing your soldering.

Hi,
I soldered nothing. I used it as it was delivered from you.
Do I missed to change something?
I added the shield directly onto an Arduino UNO Rev3 with SCL and SDA headers available.

Cheers,
Michael.

You didn't solder on the pin headers? It won't work without soldering.
Please see our tutorial on soldering, here:

Hi Support,
the "SHIELD" was delivered with all Arduino Headers already soldered.
There was nothing to solder. Could you please focus on my problem :-)

I ordered and received this: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1947
As stated in the product description:

The shield is fully assembled, tested and ready to go. No wiring, no soldering! Simply plug it in and load up our library - you'll have it running in under 10 minutes!

The Touch part of the Shield is NOT working!

Cheers,
Michael.

Oops! Sorry - I forgot that that one comes completely pre-assembled.

Sounds like the screen is defective. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement

mkroll - can you just double check that you are running the FT6206 CapTouchPaint? There's one for resistive and one for capacitive! :)

Hi I double checked, and the capacitive sample works fine now.
Thanks. This could have been easier if the first support guy would be able to give me this advice :-)
Sorry, I was thinking that my error report was clear enough.

Thanks,
Michael.
