Ask an engineer question. . .

Post by zackboston »

Hi, this is Susan from Boston's L2TT2L program where we get 500+ Boston youth making things with STEM every year. I watch along to your program on Saturday nights.

I've got some talented college mentors working with the program and they are beginning to create some infographics for some of the activities we teach. Right now, we are working on "Mod my Art" in which youth make kinetic sculptures using construction foam, servos, potentiometer and run it through an arduino with a modkit motoproto shield attached (makes the programming easier for our youth).

So Stacy Ogierumwense created this infographic on servos. We hacked open an old servo and looked at its innards and passed it around to various folks, but we need the geek seal of approval. . .so we wanted to ask you for your feedback about the poster... hence our submission to "ask an engineer."

Here it is on flickr: http://flic.kr/p/dXGT8r

I'll watch this Saturday to get your response. Also if you want to learn more about our cool program, which needs lots of support if you know any corporate types who are interested in sponsoring cool maker ed STEM STEAM programs for youth of color (Loved seeing Kipp last Saturday!), here is:

*nice slides about L2TT2L: http://www.slideshare.net/klimczaksusan ... earn-model

*(well, i think the slides are nice because i am an ed geek too. . . but there are some nice photos. . . so you get the flavor)

peace and love, susan
