USB micro SD reader problems

Post by rrepka »

I'm a Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology and my distributor, Mitchell Patterson (MAP Electronics), purchased 85 Raspberry
Pi starter packs in late August-Early September.

I have distributed 22 kits to my students and I have had seven early life failures of the http://www.adafruit.com/products/939 USB-Micro SD reader. Can you please replace them? I expect to see more failures in the remaining kits.

The failure mode is: The USB reader works and then after 2 or 3 plug in/out events the reader is no longer recognized by the USB hub. Rebooting the PC or moving to another PC does not restore operation. The reader acts like the USB controller is failing.

Also, can you please ask them to arrange to return the USB Micro SD readers? We'd like to check them out.
