Possibly Dead Wifi Unit

I recently purchased the miniature wifi unit from Adafruit for use with a Beaglebone ( Miniature WiFi (802.11b/g/n) Module ). I'm not seeing any signs of life from it. I'm not having luck getting it setup on the Beaglebone, and after much searching through the forums, I tried plugging it into my Macbook and doing a "system_profiler SPUSBDataType" to see if it is detected. There is nothing in the result that indicates a USB wireless dongle, there is no light on the USB unit, and no other sign of life from the unit.
I am getting the impression it is not working . Would you agree? Are you having reliability problems with this product? Should/can I return it? If so, how should I do that?

If both your Beagle Bone and MacBook both fail to detect it, it is probably a defective unit. Contact support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread for a replacement.
