Maximum current a BBB might demand

Post by Caliban »

Hi all,

Being very conservative, what is the maximum current a BBB might demand (obviously @ 5V)?

Regards,

Anthony

I've tried to calculate that in the past, and it's a difficult question to answer.

The BBB uses a power management chip that's quite advanced, and the microprocessor has at least three different power-in connections that have different current limits. Groups of GPIO pins are connected to different supplies, and the information is scattered pretty widely through the available documentation.

You might want to try asking in the BBB forums. Gerald, the BBB's hardware designer, hangs out there: http://beagleboard.org/Community/Forums
