I have searched thither and yon, and I can't find a design for a programming device. I don't really have the resources to BUY a programmer. If anyone can help me, I would be most appreciative. I found a PCB layout, but sadly only half of the parts are mentioned.
Now to find out why I can't sample the PIC18F452 from Microchip...
Poor man needs help on programming PIC18F452

PICKey
You can buy the Programmer. Or you can make your own.
Here is a nice easy one.

Thank you for the help, after a visit to my local ratshack I should be able to program my PIC. All new toys for me to play with. I get to learn how to make a read/write usb connection with this thing, so...yay. If you have any reference materials I might be able to find at a library (there is a university down the street, and there is some kind of book exchange thing, so I should be able to find references easier than I found my city's maintenance tunnels:)
Again, thanks.
