3.5 inch LCD Problem

Im not getting any video on the screen. I can see the AV text and menu items but no picture. I tried connecting a raspberry and also an iPod with composite cable. Im powering the display with a 2A ipad supply. WHat worries me is when i first turned the display on the menu stuff came up but was garbled. I reseated the flex cable. Dont know what else to try.

Right after I posted this I went and tried a 12V supply instead of the 5V USB. Works fine. Looks like the display runs okay down to maybe 7V. Definitely wont work with a 5V USB.
